Hello, my sweet and sparkly friends! I'm incredibly excited to be guest designing today at Frilly and Funkie! Their DT is a treasure trove of inspiration and it is an honor to be joining them for their current challenge. :o)
Sue chose the theme of "Let there be Light," which inspired wintry Christmas magic for a special family in need of extra love this holiday season. Their story is incorporated within this post. ♥︎
Combining papers from Maja Design's Winter Frost Basics and Vintage Summer Basics, I created a Sugar Plum Fairy amidst a waltz of snowflakes. The sweetest little dancer, who I love with every beat of my heart, lost her battle to a terminal disease in October. Her family is struggling beyond words, so I made them a Christmas card in memory of her beautiful dance of hope.
My design began with the rays of sunshine, which were made with a Tim Holtz Rays stencil and a dabble into texture paste! (Baby steps...) I made a glitter texture paste with a recipe provided by my sweet friend Pamellia. You can find it on THIS post. To retain the coolness of winter, they are crystalline sunbeams with abundant iridescent sparkle that my photos do not capture. These are heavenly rays of light, more radiant than ever because their little daughter is now in Heaven, filling even their darkest days with her light from above.
My love for trims encouraged a snowy horizon of lace that opens to the heavens and tiny poms that release dainty snowflakes below. The sunset is lavender is honor of our Sugar Plum Fairy ballerina, who is dancing upon a pearly snowdrift into sweet Christmas dreams. Their precious girl, who changed us all forever with her bravery and love, is encouraging her parents to keep their gaze upward and to guard their beautiful hearts. She is lifting their strongholds and releasing healing light. The ballerina is a Marianne Design die, which is embellished with a lacy tutu and pearl adornments. The snowdrift is Marianne Design's Fancy Edge, nestled within my favorite shabby ruffle trim.
The Wild Orchid Crafts flowers are dusted with Christmas sparkle. Tucked within is a My Craft Spot sentiment (no longer produced), which is cut with a Spellbinders Nested Lacey Pennant. I pray this is a source of joy for the family... and it truly is extra special that the sun ray design was inspired by this wonderful crafty opportunity! Thank you for having me, Frilly and Funkie girls! :o)
Thank you for pirouetting on by and I wish you a beautiful day. :o)

ReplyDeleteI always think of myself as a chatterbox, yet words fail me when it comes to expressing how your gorgeous card makes me feel. I know without a doubt that this card will bring great comfort and precious memories to the family of the sweet little angel in heaven. There are so many truly beautiful elements on this card, that I would have to write a novel to express it all, so I'll just tell you that I keep coming back for another look often. It really is more than an card, Karen, this is a work of art as are your other projects. You are one very creative and very thoughtful lady :-)
