Blue Creations at Live & Love Crafts!

Happy August, sweet friends! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend. It's time for a fun new challenge at Live & Love Crafts! This month we're crafting in blue, so choose your favorite blue goodies and play along with us. :o)

I opted to celebrate the blue of the ocean, inspired by Pion Design's Shoreline Treasures collection and the sweet seashells Sandy added to the store this summer. This card's mission is to bring nature's beauty to someone battling overwhelming darkness.
Pion brilliantly captured the ocean's beauty in this collection. I love the dreaminess of the vintage swimmer, clearly captivated by the sprawling waters. She is atop a Joy! Crafts Frame and 3 Corners die, while the coordinating Border die adorns the top of my card.
Shabby Chiffon Ruffle Trim lines the bottom, which I've accented with Mini Nassa Seashells, a larger Cockle Seashell (unseen in this cropped image), and oceanic pearls. The Mini Glass Bottle is filled with Mini Nassa shells and Glamour Dust. It pains me that the bottle picture isn't better! I had visions of fluttering whitecaps bringing treasures to the shoreline.
Dividing the blue script paper (preserved summertime memories) and the water is Pearl Lace. The Pion butterflies are trimmed in Glamour Dust, sparkling with love. The sentiment-wielding cut-apart is adorned with a few Nassa shells. 6mm Flatback Pearl String trims the pretty oceanic border scene, one of my favorite papers from the Sailing sheet... it's just so beautifully done.
Nassa shells are tucked within the Wild Orchid Crafts floral arrangement. The blue lilies and Chrysanthemum are trimmed in Glamour Dust, as is the Memory Box Isabella butterfly. I used Pearl Stamen for her antennae. She is carrying a message of love to the recipient, sparkling like sunbeams dancing atop the ocean.

Thank you for swimming on by and I wish you a sparkly day. :o)

Sailboat Love for Father's Day

Hello, sweet friends! I am thankful for all of you! I'm posting on the Live & Love Crafts blog today to share my take on Sandy's weekly theme of Summer: Sun, Sand, and Sea.

Also, I am truly honored to be a Guest Designer for Crafty Boots Challenges! They are a lovely group, brimming with encouragement and creativity. The current challenge is Father's Day or Masculine, which you can enter here! I highly recommend playing along at their wonderful blog. It quickly became a favorite of mine and remains as such. :o)

Masculine cards are always a challenge, but Pion Design's Shoreline Treasures offers the perfect color palette and designs to ease the pain. ;) With Father's Day only a couple of weeks away, I used this opportunity to create a shaped card for my superhero dad. :o)
The deep browns and blues in Shoreline Treasures are gorgeous and felt perfect for a sailboat. I used each of the 6x6 sheets in the collection for various components, including the pretty wave flourish cut file from the Silhouette Online Store. The die-cut Heart Banner is from La-La Land Crafts and the Gold Finch is from Memory Box.
The shipping wheel (also a cut file from the SOS) is adorned with Shabby White 6mm jingle bells and one of my favorite LLC charms: pearl oyster. They are secured together with a triple bow of jute twine. Since Sandy's new shells haven't yet arrived, I fussy cut several from a tag on the Warm Breeze sheet. The anchor is also from that sheet. The jute-trimmed shell strip along the top of the ship is one of the gorgeous borders from the Dragonfly sheet.
I continue to adore Maya Road metal embellishments! Previously I used the Love Hanger and Love Heart Clips... today I'm using the Love Pennant Clips. As I was contemplating what to use for the ship's banner, my eyes landed upon this sweet clip! I tucked it beneath my woven jute twine to guide my love to my dad. :o) The Bark Star adds amazing texture which I was looking for in the absence of flowers and trims.
The Father's Day specific greeting is reserved for the interior. I want all of his days to be filled with sunshine, so I used a border tidbit from Dragonfly for the front. :o)

Before I flutter off, here's my tip for Top Tip Tuesday: Never be afraid to try a new theme or technique! Masculine scared me, but I let my superhero dad and crafty supplies inspire me.

Thank you for sailing on by! Have a beautiful weekend. :o)

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Blog Hop!

Hello, my sparkly friends! Welcome to the My Craft Spot Blog Hop, celebrating Kimberly's new release! All of the new goodies are now available for purchase HERE! Each stop on this hop is also giving away one of the new products! YAY!

I'm your last stop for the celebratory hop! You should have arrived here from the sweet and creative Kate of Small Bits of Paper! If you've just stumbled upon my blog, head on over to My Craft Spot to start at the beginning! You won't want to miss a single stop. :o)

One of the many things I love about Kimberly's products is that they often start me on a crafty journey I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. I'm featuring two sentiments from the new Clock Time stamp set in my project today, which they completely inspired. :o)

I made a Double Sliding Lid Box for a loved one, with a surprise message nestled inside.
This box is based upon a tutorial by the supremely talented Tara, with adjustments made to suit my different base shape. I used the gorgeous Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles for my base, top frame, and sliding lids.

I adore so many sentiments from Kimberly's new release, including this one:
I wanted to surround it in nature's beauty, so I broke into my cherished Pion Design Shoreline Treasures papers from Sweden. With only one 6x6 sheet of each, I've been saving them for something special. Kimberly's releases are always special to me, so with a quivering hand I cut into several of them. ;) Every patterned paper is from that collection, as are the fussy-cut butterflies.

The interior is a little trip to the bottom of the sea, where sparkling treasures and wisdom await:
The interior sentiment is also from Clock Time, which is truly a must-have set! I wish I had been able to get a complete shot of the inside, but I was having major photography issues. The sweet fishie scene also has shells and the Prima Say It In Crystals embellishment has additional resin flowers in multiple colors.
The waves of ruffling Light Denim crinkle ribbon on top is also from My Craft Spot. It matched beautifully. :o) The church window lace and flat-back pearl strands are from The Ribbon Girl. All other embellishments are from Michael's and JoAnn's. I hope the recipient enjoys this as much as I do! :o)

You can't have a blog hop without BLOG CANDY, right?! Kimberly is generously giving away the stamp set I used today (Clock Time) to one lucky hopper! To be eligible to win, simply leave me a comment on this post! (I will select and announce the winner on Monday morning!)
