Cute as a Bunny!

Hello, my sweet friends! I'm happy to be posting on the My Craft Spot blog today. :o)

For my project, I made a bright and cheerful card for a very special child. This month the I Feel the Love Project is spreading love and sunshine to children who are abused, neglected, and at-risk. Our contributions are being sent to a fabulous nonprofit center (Tennyson Center for Children) who works with such children. IFTL is collecting birthday cards for the kids, as well as general encouraging/cheerful cards for moments when a child or staff member is having a difficult day. What a privilege to create for such a cause.

Driven by the desire to give any (and every) reason for one of the children to smile, I made a sweet little scene filled with bright colors and designs. :o)
Many of these elements are typically "Easter" in theme, but my purpose in using them is just for general sweetness. Should it be viewed as Easter, that would be fine... it would show the recipient that I was thinking of them during this festive time. :o) It's not rare for me to get emotional during IFTL work and that proved the case with this one. It's nearly unbearable to think of children being harmed, so I tried to channel that heartache into making the happiest card possible.
The adorable duckie in the egg cut file is from the Easter Quacks collection from Treasure Box Designs. I used a sweet sentiment from My Craft Spot's Stamping All Around Spring 2 as part of the egg design, which I've cut out with the coordinating Tiny Doilies metal dies. The adorable Carrot House cut file is from Little Scraps of Heaven, to which I've added MCS Candied Orange crinkle ribbon and Honeydew twine. I made my sun with dies from the Lacy Banners set. The card base shape is from the Silhouette Online store.

I couldn't resist using that adorable bunny paper for the window of my carrot house! Those rambunctious sweethearts are having all sorts of fun inside! Instead of using regular orange for the house, I used adorable carrot paper. All SEVEN of the patterned papers I used on this card are from Doodlebug's Hello Spring collection. I am excited to have it for kiddo cards.

The sentiment along the bottom is from the Big Sentiments 2 stamp set... I wanted to be sure the child knows that I'm sending him/her so many happy thoughts. There is tons of dimension which a side view would have nicely shown, but I was in a rush. I pray it brings the most beautiful smile to a hurting child's heart. It is filled with my and God's love and I have faith that it will serve as the warm embrace I wish I could give.

Thank you for hopping on by! I wish you a beautiful day of love and chocolate. :o)

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party- Day 3!

Hello, friends! Welcome to Day 3 of the My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party! This week we are providing sneak peeks of FIVE new stamp sets and THREE new metal die sets, all available to purchase on Saturday! Weren't the first two days amazing?! I love this release with all of my sparkly heart. :o)

Today we are featuring the Scrapping Life- Calendar stamp set, which coordinates with the fantastic goodies from yesterday: Scrapping Life- Everyday stamps and Scrapping Life Cards metal dies! As with the entire new release, the versatility this set offers is outstanding.

For my project today, I created something for a sweet little boy who is currently hospitalized at UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica. He is one of the recipients for this month's I Feel the Love Project. Initially I was stumped! So I gathered all of this week's new release goodies and went through them once again... and a delightful combination emerged! I knew exactly how to use this calendar stamp for him:

A fun little wall hanging calendar for his hospital room, paired with sentiments to tell him that he is loved every day... by me and so many. :o) (And every tiny love bug that holds it in place.)
Isn't the calendar stamp marvelous? I cut it out with one of the Scrapping Life Cards dies. :o) The sweet giraffes are cut files from Little Scraps of Heaven. For extra texture, I used Brown Jute String from My Craft Spot for their manes and tails. "I love you" is from the new Big Sentiments 2 stamp set. I used the masking technique to separate "every" and "day," which is on the Scrapping Life- Everyday set.
I chose papers that were all outdoorsy in theme, including the Lilybee wooden paper with hearts that I've been saving. The perfect occasion finally came! The ladybug clothespin is adhered with hot glue, enabling him to easily change out the months. I'm mailing it out with March attached, as that is when he will receive it.

You didn't think I'd only send him ten months, did you? Not a chance... it gave me the opportunity to show him that he's been dearly loved every day this year. Instead of 'checks' to cross off each day of January and February, I made sparkly red hearts:
There are so many options with this fun set, as you'll see if you head on over to My Craft Spot to check out what the team has created! While there, leave a comment on Kimberly's post for a chance to win today's daily prize: Sequins in Tickled Pink, Lemon Meringue, and Toadally Green! So fun!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party- Day 1!

Welcome to the My Craft Spot Stamp Release party! Each day this week we will be sharing projects to showcase FIVE new stamp sets and THREE new metal die sets! Kimberly will have a giveaway every day this week, so be sure to leave a comment at My Craft Spot to be eligible for the daily prize. You'll also be treated to an abundance of inspiration from the entire team! The party will end with a blog hop celebration on Saturday, where the full release is revealed and prizes will be given at every stop! Kimberly's new goodies will also be available for purchase beginning that day. :o)

Today we are featuring the new Big Sentiments 2 stamp set! This set is so versatile and I love working with the larger sentiments. It covers a variety of themes and the font is delightful! (Throughout the week we will also be showcasing the Big Words metal dies into some of our projects.)

The moment I saw the stamps, I knew I'd be pulling out my Copics! :o)
The sweet sentiment that's sending happy thoughts made me think of this little cutie pie. Honeybee by Elisabeth Bell is sending our love to a precious recipient of this month's I Feel the Love ProjectWhat better way to begin my work with this team than to help cheer up the hospital room (and heart!) of a child fighting serious sickness? I made Honeybee two tiny bows with My Craft Spot Traditional Chocolate twine and used Flower Soft for little poms. The banner is secured with a Wild Orchid Crafts sweetheart blossom.
I opted for whimsical papers filled with nature's beauty, a fluttering border of butterflies from Joy! Crafts (trimmed in Victorian Velvet love), and lots of texture for her little hands to enjoy. The filigree corners are a La-La Land Crafts die.

Nestled in my pocket card is a tiny treat to encourage her as she battles...
Aren't the tiny doilies pretty *and* adorable, all at the same time? They're a sneak peek of more new goodies to be revealed later in the week! I used four different sentiments, but you'll have to wait to see the rest. ;) Petal Pink crinkle ribbon from My Craft Spot is layered atop lace and holds a dangling heart charm for an extra touch of healing love.

An angled view for a peek inside and to show the flowers I layered for dimension:
Don't forget to flutter over to My Craft Spot to see the rest of the team's work and leave a comment for a chance to win the Happy Easter stamp set! :o)
