Hello, dear friends! I hope your week has been lovely. I'm sharing this sweet little card on the Live & Love Crafts blog today.
Crafty time was scarce this week, but I was able to have a little play with Maja Design's Vintage Summer Basics. Although there wasn't sufficient time for treasured detailing, it is ever-blossoming with love. I paired two of my favorite sheets from the collection and topped them with nature's beauty. ♥︎
This is for the mother of a 5-year-old cancer warrior. Upon finding myself discouraged that I couldn't do all I was inspired to create, I was quickly reminded of what's most important. Is this ultra floofy and overflowing in treasures? No... but the heartbroken mother will feel my heart that is poured into it. ♥︎
My colorful Wild Orchid Crafts bouquet is nestled upon a doily for softness, blossoming forth from the sparkliest of love. Sunflower Pearl Trim lines the bottom, puffy wisps of pure white clouds shielding her from the storms of grief. The Pure Love ribbon is from DL.Art. The Graciellie Design sentiment is from the Dream digital stamp set, whispering words of hope into her heart. ♥︎
The smidgen of gold detailing on top holds much meaning. She will instantly recognize it. Fluttering along the top is a Prima mulberry butterfly, which I've lightly edged with gold microbeads. A Melissa Frances Resin Appliqué adorns the opposite corner, where microbeads are nestled within its intricacy.
Gold is the awareness color for childhood cancer and it means everything to all of these families with whom I am involved... and everyone living this nightmare. This mother's little boy received devastating scan results this week, just when we hoped a corner had been turned. We are clinging to faith for miracles. These microbeads are golden for her sweet boy and are tiny sunbeams dispelling heavenly radiance into the intricate parts of her shattered heart.
The interior is decorated with a sheet from Vintage Spring Basics, which carries fluttering blossoms inside. My card base was made with Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles and my sentiment was cut out with Spellbinders Nested Lacy Pennants. I pray she likes it.
Thank you for visiting and I wish you a beautiful weekend. ♥︎

She will never forget that kindness and I'm sure her heart will be eased even just a little by this beautiful gift. You have such a beautiful spirit Karen. I'm moved to tears when I read your posts.
ReplyDeleteI am really loving the way you're using that Spellbinders die as the card base shape. I've loved it each time I've seen you do it. It really is a gorgeous card frame. The blooms on this are delish, I love both those gorgeous papers you've used on the front and the way you've bridged them with those delish blooms bursting forth from that doily base, it absolutely mirrors the love you send her way. Oh so stunning, in every detail! Thank you too my sweet friend for the lovely words you left on my blog. I'm beyond delighted your parcel arrived safely. I do hope there will be something in there that you will enjoy using. Huge hugs, Wends x

Karen, I am certain I left you some love here before, but apparently my Internet was feeling extra tricky that day, so I will attempt to leave some more. Even with crafting time short for you, you, managed to cram so many beautiful and meaningful details into this one card. I love the idea of the gold on the butterfly and corner which hold such meaning to the recipient. You are so right--the mother will feel the love with which this is made, not all the little trims and floofies. But that said, I think this still has the Karen floofiness trademark written all over it! Gorgeous! Big hugs to you! My apologies for my lateness!

ReplyDeleteHello, Karen! Don't you love the diagonal flow of your card - in the direction of the butterfly, it reminds me of Faith taking off, and flying upward. If looking from the corner downward, it reminds me of the journey we take in this life, and that while we once flew in supposed freedom, we need to come back to earth to enjoy the scents and colors of Life's Joys (shown as flowers), and be grounded in the goodness of Life.
ReplyDeleteEither way, it is like an arrow - straight and true, isn't it? And maybe...
Just maybe...
the seemingly lack of "floofiness" in your eyes, is actually the perfect amount of "floofiness" for this dear, heartbroken mother. Perhaps her eyes will see something completely different than what your muse thought you needed to make. Just perhaps, your fingers prayed this card into its perfection.
So I think it is lovely, and I enjoyed your meaning for the beautiful golden hues.
love,
de
