Sailboat Love for Father's Day

Hello, sweet friends! I am thankful for all of you! I'm posting on the Live & Love Crafts blog today to share my take on Sandy's weekly theme of Summer: Sun, Sand, and Sea.

Also, I am truly honored to be a Guest Designer for Crafty Boots Challenges! They are a lovely group, brimming with encouragement and creativity. The current challenge is Father's Day or Masculine, which you can enter here! I highly recommend playing along at their wonderful blog. It quickly became a favorite of mine and remains as such. :o)

Masculine cards are always a challenge, but Pion Design's Shoreline Treasures offers the perfect color palette and designs to ease the pain. ;) With Father's Day only a couple of weeks away, I used this opportunity to create a shaped card for my superhero dad. :o)
The deep browns and blues in Shoreline Treasures are gorgeous and felt perfect for a sailboat. I used each of the 6x6 sheets in the collection for various components, including the pretty wave flourish cut file from the Silhouette Online Store. The die-cut Heart Banner is from La-La Land Crafts and the Gold Finch is from Memory Box.
The shipping wheel (also a cut file from the SOS) is adorned with Shabby White 6mm jingle bells and one of my favorite LLC charms: pearl oyster. They are secured together with a triple bow of jute twine. Since Sandy's new shells haven't yet arrived, I fussy cut several from a tag on the Warm Breeze sheet. The anchor is also from that sheet. The jute-trimmed shell strip along the top of the ship is one of the gorgeous borders from the Dragonfly sheet.
I continue to adore Maya Road metal embellishments! Previously I used the Love Hanger and Love Heart Clips... today I'm using the Love Pennant Clips. As I was contemplating what to use for the ship's banner, my eyes landed upon this sweet clip! I tucked it beneath my woven jute twine to guide my love to my dad. :o) The Bark Star adds amazing texture which I was looking for in the absence of flowers and trims.
The Father's Day specific greeting is reserved for the interior. I want all of his days to be filled with sunshine, so I used a border tidbit from Dragonfly for the front. :o)

Before I flutter off, here's my tip for Top Tip Tuesday: Never be afraid to try a new theme or technique! Masculine scared me, but I let my superhero dad and crafty supplies inspire me.

Thank you for sailing on by! Have a beautiful weekend. :o)

Butterfly Love

Happy Friday, sweet friends! I'm fluttering in with the card I'm sharing on the Live & Love Crafts blog today. :o) This week Sandy gave us the theme of Pink + One!

This week life happened! With no crafty time until yesterday, I was even more thankful that Sandy offers such a beautiful array of products. Even in a time crunch, you can make a nice card to show someone you care.
I chose pink and green, partially because I am so enamored with these papers from Maja Design's Coffee in the Arbour. The deep rosy pink is so pretty, as is every pattern in this collection.
The lovely Rose Garden sheet in the center rests beneath a Cheery Lynn Design's Small French Lattice die, which is popped up for dimension and adorned with pearls. The stitched circle is a Marianne Design die, which I made into a frame with a Spellbinders circle die. The butterflies are from a coordinating Maja die-cut sheet. Dreamy Isabelle lace rests beneath my center piece.
The large metal butterfly is appropriately named Enchanted. It was a Christmas gift, so I must have been on Santa's nice list! I accented it with pearls and gave her a pearly trail. It's a beautifully weighty piece... in my rush I didn't take that into consideration. My rounded GoKreate Large Frame Frilly 10 base means I will include a pretty card stand when mailing it to the recipient.
My flower arrangement includes some of Sandy's newer goodies: apple blossoms and the thoroughly addicting beaded pomegranate apples in Apple Chutney. Beneath the flowers are Magnolia Heart Swirls. The opposite corner contains one of my favorite metal embellishments: the Maya Road Love Heart Clips.

Thank you for visiting and I wish you a sparkly sweet day! :o)

In the Garden at Live & Love Crafts!

Happy June, sweet friends! A new month means a fun new challenge at Live & Love Crafts! The theme for June is In the Garden, which brings to mind the utmost beauty. :o)

I was inspired to make a happy little birdhouse, featuring dreamy papers from Pion Design's Paris Flea Market. Please note: My camera and I did not get along... the papers are not quite as light as they appear.
I want to move in. :o) My parents and I love birdhouses, which have always been a sweet part of their garden. To make it soft and delicate, I used a few pretty trims: Valerie, Juliette, and Madeleine. The lacy bow is centered with one of my favorite pearly and sparkly embellishments from LLC.
The opening to my birdhouse is extra special. Reflecting the abundance of love nestled inside is a beautiful lace heart appliqué, which I've trimmed in tiny pearls. I like to think each one represents a sweet memory. Not only is it lovey-dovey, but it has an extra dose of whimsy... it's a secret door! I paired Wild Orchid Crafts roses with pearl stamens for the 'handle.' Cheery Lynn Designs Mini Fanciful Flourishes provide my greenery throughout.
My bouquet of WOC goodies (listed below) also includes decoration berries for sparkle. The fence is a Joy Crafts die, upon which I've popped up butterflies from a Paris Flea Market cut-apart sheet. I also popped up a couple of birdies from remnants for dimension. Such a fun project, despite my time crunch!

I must give a shout out to my sweetest friend Lisa! Thanks to the bow maker from her Etsy shop, I can finally make pretty bows! My last several have been made with it and it's such fun.

Thank you for fluttering on by! I wish you a sunshiny day. :o)
